Scott St. Joliet, IL 60432 Executive Director: Kris White Telephone: 815-722-0722 Fax: 815-722-6344 Website: no website available People Served: 4235 No. of Employees: 17 No. of Volunteers: 18 Service Area: Will Success Story: Mrs. G. is a 82-year-old homeowner. She receives Social Security and has been caring for her disabled daughter who receives a small amount of Supplemental Security income. Mrs G had come to the agency because she was in desperate need of a roof and some scraping and painting of her home. The city in which she lived had cited her on these repairs and stated they would start fining her daily until the work was done. She came to the agency with alsmost $400 that she had saved to help with the repair of the roof. One of the contractors who works for Will County's Weatherization Program had come forward and stated that with her $400 he could almost purchase all the materials needed to replace the roof. Whatever other roofing materials as well as the labor needed he would donate to this project. The weatherization Coordinator then set up with "Team Depot" (a volunteer organization through the Home Depot stores) to help Mrs. G with the paint and labor work needed. The city code enforcement agent was also notified to state how Mrs. G's repairs were being handled and when the work would be completed. All work was successfully completed and Mrs. G is in good standing with her city and her neighbors. Programs: CSGB Loan Program, CSGB Scholarship Program, Rent and Mortgage Assistance, Employment Support, HUD Certified Housing Counseling, Weatherization Assistance Program, Interagency Network Host, LIHEAP, Prescription Drug Assistance, Front Door Program and Continuim of Care host agency. |
