They had no posessions and were living in their van. They needed food, gas for the vehicle, and a place to live. With the help of a Ministerial Christian. Aid Alliance we took care of their needs for a few days. The couple obtained jobs at a local plant. They were then placed in one of the agency's transitional housing units for the homeless which was completely furnished. The husband is still employed. Due to illness, the wife is no longer employed although she is working through the Hand Up program in order to pay an old utility bill. In several months they will be able to pay a portion of their income for rent of the apartment and in time, will have their own apartment or possibly their first home. Programs: Head Start and Partnerships; Retired Senior Volunteer Program; Community Services Block Grant; Food Pantries; Emergency Food and Shelter; CDAP; Senior Nutrition and Supportive Services; Senior Transporation; Thrift Shops; Transitional Housing; Low Income Home Energy Assistance; Weatherization; Housing Trust Fund; Homebuyer Program; CHDO Operating Grant; Single Family Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program; and Homeless Prevention. |
