The mother worked a minimum wage job, which did little to keep ahead of their bills. At Christmas, it was hard for the family to provide much for their two young children. They made it through Christmas only to lose everything they had to a fire, which consumed their home in the middle of the night. The couple was able to only grab their children and escape the burning house. The community was quick to respond with offers of donations. Two Rivers coordinated the collection of household items, clothing, food, personal hygiene items and much more and arranged storage until new housing could be found. We were able to help with rent assistance, personal hygiene items, clothing and more. We were also able to help the family in gathering the documentation they needed to apply for a mortgage to purchase a home. By working closely with the family and others across the community, we were able to help the family get established in housing and meet their expenses until they could get back on their feet. They have been able to manage their bills and have remained self sufficient for several months.
