She tried to find a more affordable apartment, but her credit was poor, and her income was meager. Claire came to the McHenry County Housing Authority in tears. She was homeless and penniless. CSBG and FEMA funds were used to place Claire and her three children into emergency motel shelter. Then Claire and her family were placed in McHenry County Housing Authority's DHS-funded transitional shelter. While in the transitional shelter, the CSBG-funded Information, Referral and Advocacy program linked Claire with an agency that deals with families in crisis. Through this referral, Claire and her three childre are now living comfortably in thier affordable apartment. Programs: Comunity Services Block Grant, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Weatherization, Section 8 Housing, Public Housing, Sr. Citizen Housing, Owner Ocupied Rehab, Transitional Shelter, FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter, DHS Homeless Prevention and Emergency Shelter. |
