During the course of enrolling her son, several other issues became apparent, and the family was invited to participate in the IVEDC Family and Community Development program. After her son D. was enrolled in Head Start and day care arranged for her younger son B., Mrs. H. completed her GED and began attending college, while B., was providing Day Care. Mrs. D's husband had the opportunity to move from delivery to furniture repair at HHF and attended classes enabling him to do so. The family had been residing in a small trailer and with assistance was able to obtain a loan for a house and begin renovations. Mrs. H was able to continue her classes after the birth of a daughter, and has now completed her coursework and will graduate from College in May. She is employed full tie now in a temporary position and is seeking permanent full time employment. The family is now busy completing renovations to their home, and B. will attend Head Start this fall. Programs: Child Development Center, Community Care for the Elderly, Community Services Block Grant, Early Years Learning Center; Family and Community Development, Family Planning, Head Start Program, Illinois Weatherization Assistance Program, Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, Rehabilitation Centers for the Developmentally Disabled, Senoir Citizen and Transportation Programs, Transitional Housing. |
