Through advocacy, education and peer mentoring many members learn for the first tiem what their rights are as citizens and how to exercise those rights. Through chapter involvement members learn to blend their own agenda into common issues and blend their energy into a common force. Increases in Personal Assistant wages, increased fines for violators of accessible parking, volunteer enforcement programs for accessible parking, and legislative mandates requiring the special education advisory committees to include a majority of parents and individuals with disabilities are just a few of the Legislative successes we have participated in as a colaition. Programs:Americans With Disabilities Act Training, Community Services Block Grant, Disability Awareness Training, Disability Legislative Information, Information and Referral, Low Income ome Energy Assistance Program Outreach, Systems Advocacy, Technical Assistance on ADA, Toll Free Assistance. |
