(WADI) because she and her two young children had been evicted from their apartment and were homeless. A WADI Family & Community Development (FCD) Specialist was able to assist the family with shelter through the EF&S program (funded through the Department of Human Services). WADI helped them rent an apartment, assisted with paying the utilities (through the LIHEAP program), provided food (from the WADI food pantry) and clothing (through local donations). The mother soon found employment and has been able to get off public assistance. Recently she purchased her very first home. Her children are thrilled about having a room of their own for the first time in their lives. This young woman has served her community for the last two years as a FEMA Board Member representing the homeless in White county.
